The cryptocurrency market saw significant growth in 2023, with its total market capitalization increasing from $840 billion in 2022 to $1.77 trillion by the end of 2023. Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, experienced a rise in market dominance from 38.43% in 2022 to 47.8% in 2023, reaching a peak of 51.5% at one point. This surge was fueled by renewed interest in the US Bitcoin Spot ETF approval process, particularly after BlackRock’s filing for a spot BTC ETF in June, which prompted other issuers to reapply as well.
